REGION:

Bordeaux, Bordeaux Superieur, France

HISTORY:

Château Petit-Freylon is located in the small Aquitaine village of Saint-Genis-du-Bois, a tiny Aquitaine village boasting less than 100 inhabitants. The estate belonged to the Lagrange family for generations until 2011, when it was purchased by La Société PESA. Since that time, the new owners have invested heavily in the château's wine- making facilities and have installed such improvements as new tanks, barrels, and thermovinification systems. This attention to detail has earned the wines several medals at prestigious competitions, such as the Concours Agricole in Paris and the Concours de Bordeaux.

TASTING NOTES:

The Cuvée Leah is richly textured and medium-bodied. It shows a delicious abundance of black cherry and black currant notes with a hint of wood on the palate. Its elegant tannins and complexity point towards good short-term cellaring potential. Drink 2019-2030

The vineyard at Château Petit-Freylon covers 30 hectares (75 acres), 20 of which are within the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. The soils are clay and limestone and the average vine age is 30 years. Grape varieties are 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, with average yields of 50 hectoliters per hectare

On the nose, licorice, jammy dark fruits, plum, chocolate, vanilla. In the mouth, it evolves smoothly and expresses fine-grained tannins on the finish which will soften in the near future."

winemaker's notes:

A great vintage – this wine has a dark, deep color with very vibrant and lively fruit flavors. This vintage of Chateau Petit Freylon "Cuvee Leah" has an amazing elegance, with well-integrated, round, silky tannins and barrel aging that are almost undetectable.

$105.00 per 6/750 ml crate / $17.50 per bottle

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
