THE FOLLOWING CALIFORNIA GIANT ICONS HAVE ARRIVED!wine #1) the ONE and ONLY DUNN HOWELL MTN CAB 2014, DOUBLE 96+/100, $149/BTL...2 CS + 4 LOOSE BOTTLES NOT SPOKEN FOR-SEE ATTACHMENT-Critical Acclaim
Dark ruby. Captivating violet lift to the aromas and flavors of cassis, kirsch, licorice and mocha. Plush and fine-grained; extremely deep in the middle palate but this extremely rich wine impresses as much for its finesse as for its sheer density and power. Finishes with wonderfully harmonious tannins and great slow-mounting length. Owing to its sheer density and baby fat, the wine is edge-free from the start, but it's likely to evolve at a snail's pace and last for decades. (13.9% alcohol)
Rating: 96+Notes of black cherry, cassis, graphite, incense, spice and rich soil preface an authoritative, intense wine with a lovely chassis of fine but firm tannins, underpinned by vibrant acidity: quintessential Dunn Howell Mountain. Under Mike Dunn's thoughtful stewardship, the family's wines have become more refined; largely thanks to more carefully chosen barrels. But while this wine may be less forbidding in its youth than the vintages of the 1990s, let it sleep for a decade to reveal its potential complexity.Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain has an incredibly evocative nose of crème de cassis, plum preserves and fresh wild blueberries with touches of chocolate mints, tilled soil, yeast extract, chargrill and scorched earth. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with fresh, crunchy black fruit, framed by firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long with bags of energy.wine #2), ALSO , on TODAY'S container the 2015 CONTINUUM- Sage Mountain Vineyard-Napa SUPER PREMIUM cab meritage is here , beautiful 6 pack wood, 100/100 by SUCKLING, $245/BTL. 2X6 packs and 3 LOOSE bottles available- (highest rated Continuum ever...well, 2014 got 99+/100 so that was pretty close )(3 bottles DID MYSTERIOUSLY disappeared today...ha! ha!).Winemaker Notes
The dark, rich core of the 2015 Continuum has aromas of cacao, black currant, cardamom and savory wild herb. On the palate it is layered and supple, revealing black cherry and roast espresso notes intertwined with mountain minerals and a hint of tangy orange spice. The wine is lush with ripe chocolaty tannins that lead to a long, expressive finish. 2015, though small in volume, is a mighty vintage for Continuum; one to savor today or age and appreciate for decades to come.
Blend: 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc, 17% Petit Verdot, 6% MerlotCritical Acclaim
This is sensational with blackberries, blueberries and mineral. Extremely floral, too. Full-bodied but so seamless and refined with polished tannins that just melts into the wine. Goes on for minutes. A subtle and glorious wine that will be a new classic for Napa Valley. An emotional red that touches your soul. Energy. 46% cabernet sauvignon, 31% cabernet franc, 17% petit verdot, and 6% merlot. Very approachable now but better in 2022.Have a great week!OLIVER-PIERRE RESSEL
